Language and Cultural Features

In Ireland both English and Irish are spoken which means that direct marketing campaigns can be carried out in one of these two languages. It is not necessary to start a direct marketing campaign in Irish, unless it is meant as an act of goodwill.

Customer Protection - Data Privacy

All databases have to be registered with the “Data Protection Commission” stating their purpose.

Database owners/managers are obliged to give every person stored in the database information at any time on their personal data, if they so wish.

There is no law in Ireland restricting the export of data.

Postal Service

Postaim
There are two kinds of Postaim services:

Standard Postaim Envelopes

Special Postage Prepaid Postaim Envelopes

For a quantity of (min.)2000 mail pieces, the Standard Postaim Service is applicable.

In this service, the sender must print the related licensing details on the envelopes.

The Special Postage Prepaid Envelopes Service is designed for mailings with a lower circulation in which the sender does not wish to have the envelopes printed. The minimum number of prepaid envelopes is 500 which can be bought from “An Post”.

Publicity Post

This service provides the delivery of unaddressed mailings to households and companies in urban or rural areas.

Business Response Service

Here, “An Post” offers a national/international business reply service as well as a national freepost service.
